Introduction
to the Law Centre
The Trafford Law Centre is an independent voluntary organisation offering free legal advice, assistance and representation in the following areas of law:
We are here primarily for the borough of Trafford and surrounding areas. Please see our links page for details of other Law Centres in the Greater Manchester area.
We are an independent organisation funded by the Legal Services Commission and a member of the Law Centres Federation. Due to this, the free advice that we can offer may be limited if you are not eligible. See our eligibility guide for more information.
Please note that it is best to call us first before coming to see us. We can discuss your case briefly over the phone, then make an appointment and inform you of the information that you may need to bring. This will save you any unecessary travelling or waiting. Our phone number is 0161 872 3669.
We are a registered charity, charity number 1099615.
About
Our Organisation
The Trafford Law Centre took its first client in September 2002, and since then has moved from its initial location in Manchester City Centre to its current location in John Derby House, Talbot Road. This move placed it a lot closer to the heart of the communities that it was set up to serve.
Its primary aim is to enable people who are vulnerable or disadvantaged to defend their rights by giving them access to quality legal advice and representation. Over the past 2 years, we have taken on over 300 cases and are taking more every day. We have examples available of the types of work that we have done in each of the areas of law that we deal with, but if you are unsure if we can help, please contact us.
We are a charitable organisation funded by the Legal Services Commission. We do not act for landlords, companies or employers.
The Law Centre is also governed by the management group, who are volunteers from the Trafford area and who meet regularly to oversee the management and development of the Law Centre.
All of our services are free, but due to the way we are funded we may only be able to offer very limited help if you are not eligible under the legal help scheme.
To qualify, your gross household income must be around £2,530 per month or less and your disposable income after deductions must be £698 per month or less. Your savings must also be less than £8,000.
If you believe that you are eligible and would like us to take on your case, or have any questions about eligibility, please contact us.
