- In education
- In accessing the services of private bodies, for example shops or restaurants
- In accessing the services of public bodies, for example hospitals or local authorities

What kind of Service do we Provide?
We can advise people on their legal rights under the anti-discrimination legislation, which may be given on the spot, or which may require us to take details of what has occurred and then to research how the legislation applies to the facts of the case.
In addition, in many cases, we will provide representation to people who have suffered discrimination, which will include opening a case file for them, writing letters on their behalf, and in some cases providing or arranging for representation at Employment Tribunals or County Courts.
How do you Get Advice from Us?
You can telephone or write to us for advice. Our contact details are at the foot of this page. We may give you advice there and then, we may look into your query and get back to you after researching the legal position, or we may offer you an appointment.
Telephone advice line time's are: Wednesday's 4.00 - 5.30pm.
In addition you can drop in to see us in person without an appointment: Monday - Thursday between 11.00 am and 1.00pm.
Is it Really Free?
We won’t charge Clients directly for the work we do ourselves.
However if you are entitled to funding from the Legal Services Commission, or you have Legal Expenses Insurance, we may ask you to agree that we can claim payment for our fees from these sources.
Also, if you do not have these sources of funding and you bring a case in the Court or Tribunal, we may have to advise you that there are certain expenses which you should consider meeting yourself in order for your case to have a good chance of success, and in some cases in order for the Court of Tribunal to allow it to proceed at all.
Examples of such expenses that you may have to cover yourself include the cost of getting medical reports and copy medical notes, barristers’ fees (if we think you should engage a barrister), and court fees, if you are not exempt from paying these.
Who do we give advice to?
We are principally funded to provi de non-means tested advice to people who have suffered discrimination whilst living in, working in or visiting Trafford, Salford or Wigan.
