Introduction

Below is a list of the kind of employment issues that we can help with.
Dismissal
We can advise you of your rights if you have been dismissed from your employment, and help you decide whether or not you have been unfairly dismissed. If you have been dismissed unfairly, we can then help you pursue a claim.
Maternity Rights
We can offer advice about antenatal care, maternity leave, maternity benefit, protection against unfair treatment or dismissal and health and safety issues related to pregnancy.
Parental Leave
Parental leave is the right to take time off work to look after a child or make arrangements for a child's welfare. Mothers and fathers of natural or adoptive children who are employees qualify for parental leave.
Redundancy
We can advise about redundancy payments, consultation and dismissals. It is possible to challenge the fairness of a redundancy dismissal.
Pay and Wages
We can advise about issues relating to pay such as the national minimum wage and pay statements.
Other Issues
There are a number of other employment issues which we can advise on such as transfer of business regulations, working hours, union membership and activities and discrimination. Please contact the Law Centre if you have an employment issues and we can let you know if we can help.
You should seek advice as soon as possible as many employment problems can result in an application to the Employment Tribunal, and there are strict time limits in which applications can be made. Complaints to the Employment Tribunal must normally be made within 3 months.
