Homelessness

If you have nowhere to live, or you are threatened with homelessness, you can apply to the council who have a duty to provide accommodation for people in certain circumstances. Homelessness doesn’t just mean where a person has no home, it can also mean having accommodation which it is not reasonable to expect you to continue to live in.

Eviction and Possession Proceedings

If you are a tenant with rent arrears, or an owner-occupier with mortgage arrears, and you have received a bailiffs warrant, you can apply to suspend the warrant. When you receive the warrant you must act quickly, as there are time limits to prevent the eviction. The warrant will state a time and date that the eviction will take place. We can also help you if your landlord or mortgage lender is taking possession proceedings against you.
